Money is feminine

I want to be a boss.. but if I make ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ผ ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ต money it will create issues in my relationship bc studies show that relationships are more successful when we fall into our feminine & masculine roles ๐Ÿ’”

Culturally, we have described making money as โ€œbringing home the baconโ€, โ€œbeing the breadwinnerโ€, โ€œwearing the pantsโ€... etc. Being seen as the provider has a masculine connotation.

So when a woman makes ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜ money, it can be seen as masculine even come off as challenging their partnerโ€™s masculinity. It starts to break the cultural norm and could cause rifts in the relationship.

That could sound like โ€œsince you make more money you decideโ€, โ€œyou know I donโ€™t make as much as you so I canโ€™t do thatโ€, or โ€œyou should manage the money since you make most of itโ€ etc.

Itโ€™s common that the more money women make, the more ๐—ด๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—น๐˜๐˜† we feel and we find ourselves doing more housework to make up for how much more money we make which can be exhausting.

Or... we find ourselves ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ณ๐˜‚๐—น bc we expect our partners to fulfill societyโ€™s norms for being the provider and coming up short. โ€œMy mom told me to marry a rich man.

But...Itโ€™s not who has more power based on how much money you make, who does more housework or even takes on more parenting duties.
