I belong

I heard this today and YES, I DO.

As a 1st Gen WOC, I constantly questioned my belonging in Corporate America. I didn’t feel like there was space for me to be seen and heard.

I struggled with creating boundaries, pushing back, and managing up. I grew resentful and often felt helpless. Because it was coming from my boss, I felt I had to do it.

I was always on edge. As I put in early mornings, late nights and even weekends, I became burnt out. For how much effort I was putting in, when I looked at my bank account, I felt scammed. Oh, the water works 😭😭, how was this even fair?

I know I did good work and was always considered a high performer. My bosses told me so. While this was great, it always bothered me that people got promoted faster than me.

All these feelings are what drove me to financially pursue early retirement and entrepreneurship. While I’m still on this path, TODAY was the first time in years that I actually saw a light at the end of the tunnel for my 9-5.

I had a HUGE shift and wanted to remind you...

💸You can decide today on a new role, team or company

💸You can decide to have conversations about boundaries

💸You can decide that getting something done ASAP is not really a timeline

💸You can decide to create new productive relationships - mentorships, partnerships or friends

💸You can decide what you want the career path forward to look like for you

💸You can decide what you are willing to tolerate

We often give our 9-5 or bosses too much power they don’t really have.

TAKE BACK YOUR POWER. You belong here.

Drop 🙌🙌 if you felt that👇
