Let’s be honest, Money Honeys! It’s way more fun to do things you love AND get paid!
I remember very clearly near senior graduation, one of my classmates sitting across from me was in tears 😭frustrated that she didn’t know what career she wanted to pursue.
By the time I was a junior in high school, I made up my mind that I wanted to be in the fashion industry (which I quit after the first year in college😂). She was upset that I was so sure and so committed.
It’s ridiculous to me that by 18 we are supposed to pick ONE thing and know what we want to do for the rest of lives.
Self development takes twists/ turns and we actually discover that we are multi-faceted. But the more we change our major, the more pissed our parents get because “we’re wasting money”. 😂
It’s kind of unfair. The goal shouldn’t be to “finish” but to learn more about ourselves - what do we like, not like. The reality is we’re never finished, Then, find out which of those things we can monetize.
I want to share an exercise that I found really helpful in choosing “My Thing” to start with:
1. What would your friends say you’re good at or often come to you for advice for?⠀
2. What do I find easy and FUN that others find challenging?⠀
3. What are activities that I lose track of time on (FLOW)?⠀
After you identify these things, then go through the check list with each of these ideas:⠀
✔️is it something you would have SO MUCH FUN doing?⠀
✔️will someone PAY YOU for it?⠀
✔️do you have the resources to start now?⠀
Do that with one thing. This doesn’t mean the one thing forever, just no to all the other things right now. When you’re ready, you may build upon or pivot. ⠀
